Free tools for the kitchen counter
The same proof scale, ratios and rules the Loaf Scout app uses, as four tools you can open with floury hands. No sign-up, nothing uploaded, everything runs in your browser.
- Hydration calculator: your flour, water and starter in grams turned into the dough's true hydration, with the starter counted as half flour and half water, the water for any hydration you choose, and the recipe scaled to any dough weight.
- Bake planner: pick when you want bread out of the oven, say 6 pm tomorrow, and it works backwards to when to feed the starter, mix, fold, shape, proof on the counter or in the fridge, bake and cool.
- Starter feeding calculator: a ratio from 1:1:1 to 1:10:10 and the grams you keep, turned into the flour and water to add, the usual hours to peak for your room, and when to mix.
- Crumb troubleshooter: seven questions about the cut loaf, turned into a proof call from underproofed to overproofed, the faults that fit, and the one lever to change next bake.
Every result links the guide that explains it. The tools do arithmetic and apply fixed rules; your own eyes, nose and the poke test still count. And one rule no tool overrides: fuzzy mold of any color, or pink or orange streaks in a starter, means the whole jar goes.
